The 31-year-old rapper performed Anaconda before slipping off stage to change into a black mini dress. The plan was to return minutes later and join Jessie J and Ariana Grande for a live rendition of their single Bang Bang.
Things seemingly went off course when Minaj remerged holding her dress together with her hands.
According to TMZ, Minaj pulled the same stunt during a dress rehearsal. An insider said Minaj’s antics looked suspicious when she began pulling at the dress to see which areas would be exposed.
E! News reports Minaj appeared backstage after her performance and yelled to reporters, “You all know I had a wardrobe malfunction … We ran out of time getting the dress zipped up.”
She thanked God her nipple didn’t fall out on stage.
“As long as a nipple didn’t come out to play, I’m fine,” she wrote on Instagram. In a separate post, Minaj claims she wasn’t ready to reveal all. “I held on to that dress for DEAR LIFE!!! There was no bra and no panties to save me,” she said. “Took real commitment.”
