And your Lord inspired to the bee, "Take for yourself among the mountains, houses, and among the trees and [in] that which they construct.
Then eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord laid down [for you]." There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.
(QS An Nahl [16]: 68-69)
Honey is produced in amounts far more than the needs of the bees. This implies that medicinal drink was created for the benefit of mankind.
As we know, the food source the honey bee is the essence of flowers (nectar), which is not found in the winter. Hence, bees mix the nectar they collect in the summer with a special fluid that issued their bodies. This mixture produces a new substance that is nutritious honey and keep it for next winter.
It was interesting to observe that the bees store honey is much more than they actually need. The first question that comes to mind is: why the bees do not stop making in excess of this amount, which seems a waste of time and effort? The answer to this question is hidden in the word "revelation [inspiration]" which has been given to the bees, as mentioned in the verse quoted above.
Bees produce honey not for themselves, but also for humans. Like other creatures in nature, bees are also devoting ourselves to serve human beings; same as chickens that lay eggs at least a grain of every day despite not need it and cows that produce milk far exceeds the needs of her children.
Fabulous setting in the hive
Life of bees in the hive and honey production is astounding. Without going into too much detail, let us examine the main features of "public life" of bees. Bees must carry out numerous "tasks" and they manage all this with outstanding arrangements.
The design of the hexagon of plots allows the storage of honey bee hives in the greatest number with the raw material for making nests, ie candles, in the fewest number. The bee is an insect-sized 1-2 cm and it does the calculations that with what has inspired his Lord.
Settings humidity and air exchange: The humidity nest, which makes honey has a high level of durability, must be maintained at a certain limit. In the humidity is above or below this limit, the honey will break down and lose durability and nutrition. Likewise, the temperature of the nest should be 35 degrees Celsius for ten months of the year. To keep the nest temperature and humidity are to a certain extent, there is a special group in charge of maintaining air exchange.
If a hot day, looks the bees are setting the air exchange in the nest. The entrance to a nest full of bees. While attached to the wood, they are fanning the nest with wings. In a standard hive, air entering from one side pushed out on the other side. Bees air exchange regulator others working in the nest, pushing the air into all corners of the nest.
Air exchange device is also useful to protect the hive from smoke and air pollution.
Structuring Health: Efforts to maintain the quality of the honey bee is not limited to moisture and heat settings. Inside the nest there are networks of health care that is perfect for control of all events that may lead to bacterial growth. The main purpose of this arrangement is to eliminate substances that may cause the bacteria. The principle is to prevent foreign substances entering the nest. For that, two guards are always placed at the door of the nest. If a foreign substance or insect enters the nest even though they had no precaution, all bees act to put her out of the nest.
Life of bees in the hive and honey-making by them is astounding. Bees do a lot of "work" and they managed to do well through the setting (organizing) is remarkable.
For bigger foreign objects that can not be removed from the nest, use other means of defense. Bees embalm the foreign object. They produce a substance called "propolis" (ie, sap bee) for embalming. Sap bee is produced by adding a special fluid that they remove from the body to sap collected from trees like pine, hawwar, and acacia. Lymph bees are also used to patch cracks in the nest. After ditambalkan the cracks, the sap dries and when it reacts with air to form a hard surface. Thus, the nest can last from outside threats. Bees use this substance in almost all of their work.
At this point, many questions come to mind. Propolis prevents any bacteria living in it. This makes propolis as the best substance for embalming. How do bees know that the substance is exactly what the best? How do bees produce a substance, which can only be created humans in the laboratory and using technology, as well as the understanding of chemistry? How do they know that the dead insects can cause bacteria to grow and that embalming will prevent this?
It is clear the bees do not have any knowledge about this, let alone the laboratory. The bee is an insect 1-2 cm in length, and he did it all with what has inspired his Lord.
