Giant Statue of King Pharaoh Amenhotep III

The archaeologists discovered a giant statue of the famous Egyptian pharaoh, Amenhotep III, at his monastery in the city of Luxor, southern Egypt, according to the archaeological service, on Tuesday (26 / 4).

13 meters high statue was found buried in the seven sections in the temple of Amenhotep III at Kom al-Hitan.

The statue was one of the two statues which are placed at the north entrance of the temple and possibly destroyed when an earthquake hit the city in the year 27 BC, according to official statement immemorial.

"The team of archaeologists are currently working to clean up, restore and collect the seven-part sculpture. Head of the statue was also being sought,"the statement said.

The statement also mentioned the twin statue will soon be found. Amenhotep III, who ruled Egypt between the years 1390 to 1352 BC, was the father of Akhenaten, the "heretic Pharaoh" who is considered as the driving force monotheism doctrine because he imposed rules for the sole worship of the god Aten.
